Ranked #1311 - Alpine Touring Bindings

I bought these binding to save weight. They weigh approximately two pounds less than the competition! They took a little while to get used to, but now I find them quite easy to use. In particular, you must make sure that the front lever is pulled all the way back during touring to avoid accidental release. It feels like the lever might break when you do this, but so far so good. I've had good luck with the releasability of these bindings...stayed on during skiing (I'm intermediate at best) but have released during moderate and somewhat minor wipeouts (might need the release setting increased just a tad). The only problem I've had, a minor one, is that the heel piece sometimes rotates out of "standard elevated tour mode" as a round blob of ice builds up on top of the heel piece. The ice blob forces the heel of the boot to exert pressure at an angle which allows for the rotation. Overall, I'm extremely happy I chose these bindings; a little inconvenience is a small price to pay for a two pound weight reduction.
