Comfy, but durability?

Great comfortable chair. I bought these for chillin' in the back yard on days off of playing. My only complaint is the wood on the arms started looking rough from the get go. Sand the arms as soon as you get yours and put some stain on them. Also, rust has been showing up in all the joints and bolt holes. Obviously these chairs are not meant to stay outside.

It's true about the armrests. Lafuma in an environmental company and uses materials that do not negatively impact the environment. The batyline fabric on the sling is another example of using fabric that is manufactured free of toxins, while still maintaining durability without fading. The armrests are not "finished" with any sort of chemical sealant, which means there is a factory protectant that will keep moisture out but for people that would like to leave the chairs outdoors full time they may consider chairs that have either plastic arms (or applying a stain as you suggested.)
