There isn't a recommended weight on packs. It will carry as much as you can (it won't break, but you might), but the more you put in it, the less comfy it gets. I'd say a reasonable load for this pack is in the 60lb range. as a general rule, it's recommended you not carry more than 1/3 of your body weight.
