A lot of you have been suggesting sizing down... I wear size 8.5 boots. Do you think I should stick with the mediums or go for the small?
Oh and they won't be plastic boots. They are the Scarpa Summit GTX boots.

Thanks for any input

going to re-update now a year+ of using the Smalls, they fit me perfectly (5'8", size 9-9.5shoe, wear them specifically with Lowa Mnt Experts GTX)

I have a pair of Mediums and am trying to get them to fit on a size 9 lowa mountain expert and they are only snug when I have the buckle tightened so much that its near the edge of the sole and the hook is going over the very first (near the toe) cross of laces. I think I will be returning them for a size small.

I second that. I wear size 10.5 and returned my gaiters twice--sizing down each time until I ended up with the smalls. I had a hard time getting a tight seal around my leg (5'11, 180 lbs) at the top as well as around my boots. The expeditions are wider than the regular crocs for mountaineering boots.

Well if you can get away with grabbing the smalls, I would recommend it, simply for a tighter seal around your foot and leg. Definitely suggest trying some pairs on before hand though.
