Will it shrink with washings? Maybe that will help. But then, maybe it won't be good and make the zipper warp?

It looks like the sweater is made of traditional lambswool. So yes it will shrink. I would definitely not wash it in water, unless that's what you want to do. And even that, I would hand wash it, in cold water, and lay flat to dry.
