What is the best method for washing this jacket? Should I use detergent? Should I use NikWash? What should I use to refresh its DWR?

I would wash the Synchro with a mild detergent (NO SOAP!) and then dry on LOW heat and see if that helps the DWR. Tech Wash from Nik Wax is a great choice for a mild detergent for this. Both the cleaning and the low heat from the drying of the garment can help to "re-charge" the DWR with out any added elements. Plus, the DWR on this jacket is rated to about 20 washings before you have to re-charge with a Nik Wax or Tech Wash. How many times have you washed it? Also, know that one of the biggest killers of DWR is smoke... second dirt! Believe it or not. Hope this info helps! WASH YOUR STUFF!:)

Nikwax is your best bet. The wash will clean the jacket and the waterproof wash in will return it to a fully waterproof jacket again.
