This bag isn't waterproof, but it's not mesh either. If you're in a downpour, your stuff will get wet inside the pack. If you're in a drizzle (maybe up to a light rain) you'll be fine. Plan on getting a pack cover or using a jacket or poncho or trash bag to cover the pack if you'll be in heavy rain.
