How does the down mat work if the tent floor gets wet- is it as bad as having a down bag?

I've used this pad as a flotation device in an arctic lake. It was lovely. It floats well and keeps you warm. Great for sun bathing in freezing water.

Nope, not an issue. The bag is airtight, so clearly it's waterproof. The only problem is if you get moisture inside the bag, but it's got a built in pump for that. No problem then.
