I am looking for the perfect pair of jeans with soft fabiric for my son who will not wear stiff or heavy denim jeans.
How are these? Does the wash really make them soft?

Erin, even those these jeans are sturdier than the average denim jean (I can compare to a pair from Wal-Mart and to a pair of Osh Kosh), I can tell you that after washing just one time, they are as "flexible" as any of our other pairs of jeans. They aren't uncomfortable. We got 2 pair and love them. My 4-year-old asks to wear them!

Carhartt is general makes very tough denim that is a little harder to break in and a little heavier so it can take more abuse. This are built good and tough and will break in nicely over time, but may not fit into what you want as far as a soft feeling lightweight pant.
