How well insulated is this jacket, and how well does it compress? I'm looking for a synthetic insulation jacket that I can put on after a day of backpacking. Ideally it should keep me warm at ~30F. Is the Matador good for that?

This is definitely compressible but is made more for skiing rather than a backpacking trip. Check out some of the Montbell products instead (ie. MTB0070).
