yeah you could definitely go lighter. these are a beefy spike so their going to be great for mountaineering focused stuff.

A little heavy for ski mountaineering unless you are doing some very intense ski descents where you will be on hard routes to get up!Camp makes a very light step in crampon.(They are called xlc 390)but they are definetley not as durable,or strong!
