I am female 5'5'' 130lbs and Hiked the Colorado Trail Thru in 4 weeks with this pack. I LOVE IT grant you I pack light. My essentials were. 3 days of food, gortex rain jacket, head lamp, leathermen, 3 L. water, 15 degree down bag weighing under 3lbs, puffy coat, long underwear, spare shirt, 2 pairs of socks, ultra light tent poles (my mate carried the tent portion) purple speedo for almost naked taning day, the steel cup I cook in, snow peak stove one fuel can, lighter, tooth brush, baking soda, emergen-C, Hat, Sun Glasses, gloves, small mole skin note book, floss, ductape, sun block, bandana, flippy floppies, medical marijuana, Soap, and running shorts.

you can if you use a bivy instead of a tent and use a sleeping bag that compress to the size of a cantaloupe

If you are planning on carrying a tent and a sleeping bag, this pack is too small. This would be a nice daypack, but it wouldn't be able to carry larger items. I'd recommend looking into packs that are about 3000 - 3500 cu in if you are planning 2-3 day trips.
