I'm 6'1" 200lb athletically built 56 yr old man who is wanting a winter hiking jacket that is warm and breathable in +10 to -20 temp range. Looking at the Winter Sun and Ice Field jackets. Outer Mongolia is cold, dry, and windy. Low riding mountains. I would probably wear a Cap 3 and R3 underneath. Can you give your suggestion?

The Winter Sun and Ice Field are similar jackets - the first is a soft shell, and the second, the Ice Field, is a hard shell. The Winter Sun will breath better, and the Ice Field will protect against wind and water better. I think the Ice Field might serve you the best for your trip, I imagine that although it's a dry cold, Mongolia gets pretty nasty. Plus the Ice Field has a hood for you.
