I am a beginning telemarker and am thinking of buying a pair of BD havocs 175, what binding would you recommend? I am 5'10'' 150 lbs and have T2 scarpas. What is the difference between the o1, o2, o3? how do they compare with the 22 designs hammerhead

I would do just the opposite. I have skied more than fifty days on both the O1's and the Hammerheads. The Hammerheads offer WAY more control. I cannot stress how much more control it is. For the argument of switching cartridges on the O1/O2 the Hammerhead has five different positions that don't cost $50 to switch.

Having skied both, I'd recommend the O2. They're more versatile for a beginner than the Hammerheads, and when you get better you can swap out cartridges instead of having to buy a whole new binding. The O3 is similar to a G3 binding, with the cartridges on the side of the boot, but that doesn't allow for as smooth a turn as the O2 or Hammerhead, where the cables run under the boot. The O1 is simply the O2 with a touring mode, but it's a lot more expensive so I wouldn't get that unless you're planning on doing a lot of hiking.
