Why is the breathability rating of this jacket is less (only 17K) than in other eVent jackets?

It's true, eVent does rock your face. There are no need for underarm zippers but there are these large napoleon-style chest "pockets" which are mesh lined and could be left open. That would feel good when jettisoned from 10K above the earth into a lip of an erupting volcano.

The Event fabric used is the super light version which is lighter than other forms but the compromise is a loss of breathabilty. The more breathable one is the 3 layer. Event have numerous fabrics - a bit like gortex with their Paclite, Performance Shell, Pro Shell etc. Each fabric has different abilities. Hope that helps
