Do ropes have any expiration date from the factory? The local retailer, the only one, has gear from 2006 on the shelf.

Be careful. Dynamic ropes will lose there stretch over about 6 years. Yes they are still just as strong when weighted but they will put more force on gear during a lead fall.

As long as they've been unused and sitting inside, not roasting in the sun, they'll be in factory fresh condition. They don't really expire.
