No, not really. Although I'm not familiar with the Lightning 2, modern tents do not NEED footprints. The floor is usually fairly waterproof on all. Primarily the footprint is used to protect the floor from abrasion and dirt (i.e. mud). I find them to be unnecessary weight (although ± 5 oz. is all). I hope this helps.
