how do these pants compare to other softshells in terms of breathability - I am looking for something to tour in, and hate to overheat. Most of the lightweight pants don't have venting (these do) but these seem more like regular ski pants.

These will do pretty well, softshell is the fabric of choice for an aerobic workout, such as touring.
