Does this jacket stop the cold MN wind? Also, I'm about 5'8, 170 pounds. I do NOT like a lot of extra room in my jackets, do I go M or SM??

Cyrus is right... I didn't really understand the difference that windwall would make until I bought one. The khumbu doesn't even try to block wind. Loosely woven cotton sweatshirts have about the same effect.

wind will make this jacket (and you) beg for mercy, i say go for a windwall if you want windblocking...and with its relaxed fit; a small will fit exactly the way you want it to
