No one has mentioned what type of material this little Hydrolock unit is made of..(Hard Plastic or what???) And do I understand that it can take the place of the rubber bite mouth piece???? Being that rubber irritates my mouth (Lips).. Thank you for your info. Mr.Bohanon....

It could take the place of the rubber mouth piece, but most people put it in between the mouthpiece and tube for climbing and stuff so you don't squish the mouthpiece and get wet. It'd work without the mouthpiece, but you'll need both hands to work it so it wont work for climbing or biking or anything.
