Are the jackets sized to take into account the fact that you will be wearing thick ski pants underneath? I don't want to get a jacket that's too tight around my waist and hips, due to the ski pants underneath.

Your ski pants shouldn't be thick enough and your jacket shouldn't be tight enough to make a difference.
