The motion control in this shoe presents in two forms. One is called "360 degree Perimeterâ„¢" where the shoes is designed so your foot actually sits down in the midsole which literally creates a "perimeter" around your foot. It adds a surprising amount of stability while maintaining flexibility and cushioning in the shoe itself. Second, a heel crash pad absorbs shock and eases the foot into a neutral gait cycle. Think of this crash pad as the opposite of a post if you will. In other words, by easing your foot into a neutral gait cycle it is helping to do the same thing a post would traditionally do. As for the narrow heel, I don't have specific specs but I know that through the virtues of "Integra-Fit" Montrail shoes typically have a narrow heel, fit snug through the mid-foot, and have a slightly wide toe box. All good things when running long distances. Hope this info helps!
