I'm looking for a a really warm mitten for skiing. I was in -8 F weather in Big Sky, Montana last month and my very expensive pair of Grandoe MC2 gloves did not cut it. I have been told that what I need is a good pair of mittens with a removable insulated glove liner, waterproof construction (i.e., Gortex or similiar) taped or welded seams, PolarLoft or equivalent insulation in the mitten, gauntlet, leather or equivalent in the palm, tethers for the mittens and not so bulky that you can't operate a ski pole. I looked at the Outdoor Research Alti mittens and I am not sure that they would work for skiing. And, I choked on the retail price. I'm looking for guidance, thanks.
