Is this too long for a snowboard if I lay it length-wise? If so and I lay a snowboard perpendicular to the length of the table, would it be too unstable? What's a good alternative for both snowboards and skis? Thanks.

Well you have a few options. You could buy Swix's snowboard specific table which will solve your problem.
