I'm looking into buying this jacket but I've had trouble with the MHW softshells not fitting me right... I'm 6'1 ish and 165 lbs. I want something I can layer under but not something that is going to swallow me when I am just in the shell....Would a medium be to small or a large too big???

I agree, go with the large, im 6'0 150 and went with the large cause I wanted to layer. The sleeve lengths are a little bit too long, but nothing that looks bad, or makes it so I cant function properly.

Based on your height, I would go with a large. It may be a little roomy but the sleeve length should be right on. Hope this helps!*************I'm 5'9" 140 and I can wear the medium with a skintight baselayer, thin softshell vest, and fleece underneath. However, I can't fit anything else under it and it feels kinda packed. You definitely want a large. It has an athletic cut so you won't swim in it.
