Margaret,I do not remember if these shoes have a marking sole (I will tweak my answer tomorrow). More importantly these shoes should not be used as a PE shoe. The elevated tread on the sole will catch on a smooth floor and increase the risk of ankle injury. I recommend a flat soled non-marking shoe for the gym.
