I find d-grip shovels easier to use and more comfortable. After a lot of shoveling, I feel like there is less hand fatigue with a d-grip than with at t-grip. It's probably just personal preference though, and like any other gear, you should test it out first, if you can.

I have owned D and T grip shovels and don't notice a huge benefit from the d grip other than it is easier to grab.The different grip is based on what glove/mitten you wear. With a T-grip you can't use a mitten, at least with ease. All BD shovels have a ground out T-grip so you can use either mitten or glove.
