Head makes fantastic equipment whether it be skis or a snowboard. They have been producing snowboards under the Head brand for almost 10 years now. The founders have been producing snowboard for over 25 years under various brand names. Their company was purchased by Head 10 years ago at which point they started using the Head brand. Head tends to be a little better known as a snowboard brand in Europe and than in the USA but, nonetheless the boards are well built with performance and not hype in mind. I guess what I am saying is they don't spend a ton of money on marketing which is why you maybe didn't know they were making boards. This is the 3rd season that Backcountry.com has carried the Head Pearl and it has been a great seller with many happy customers. Furthermore its a great looking board too. I hope that helps you out.
