If I x-ski in ungroomed areas with often icy conditiona and am overweight by a lot, what pole and especially basket is my best bet? I do not tour long long distances either, but enjoy getting into uncharted areas as well. Thanks,janet

look for something with a larger basket--stay away from poles advertising "racing" or "groomed trails" those have tiny baskets like the one pictured above.
