I'm a novice at this. What size of propane bottle does this stove take, and how many?

It takes one green propane bottle at a time (available everywhere, including Safeway), or you can use a hose (http://www.backcountry.com/store/CMN0059/Coleman-8ft-Extension-Hose.html) to attach it to a standard white propane tank like a gas barbecue uses. That's way cheaper in the long run.
