20k means that in laboratory testing, 20,000 mm of water was suspended above the fabric used in the Koven Plus, before water seeped through. Typically, any fabric which can withstand 1,000 mm of water pressure prior to leaking is considered waterproof. Mid-range shell fabrics tend to hover around 5,000 mm. Basically this shell is bombproof.

Means it'll take 20,000 mm of rain in 24 hours before leaking. That's around 67 feet. In layman's terms, it's really freakin' waterproof.
