i have a summit series outer shell - it has the ability to add a zip in. I was wondering if there are any down zip in layers by northface? Also, could this be a DIY zip in. For some reason my brain can't figure out whether that's obvious or not?

Bambino,Easiest way to zip in a jacket into a shell is put on the layering jacket. Then put the shell on over that. Next you will want to zip the laying jacket to the shell on each side. It's up to you if you want to leave it open or zip it up all the way. Please see the attached photo to get a better idea if my instructions aren't clear. In regards to it fitting it all depends on how your current jacket fits. If you are on the larger size and your jacket just fits you without any layers, then the answer would be no. If you have the room, most TNF zippers are cross compatible. Most likely a full down jacket inside a shell will be way too snug. Check out TNF Nuptse down vest, a great layering option that won't cause your armpits to get too hot or for your arms to feel squished. What types of activities do you plan to use this setup with?
