You'd have to hit it pretty damn hard to break it off. The central attachment point is angle adjustable pivoting on the two side anchor points. So most of the time on a big hit the visor just pivots up the helmet and its a simple matter of pulling it back down and heading on your merry way.

It is really a heck of a lot more durable that you would think. I have taken a couple slams in the park and dives in the trees with this helmet, and the brim is A-OK.
