Do you use scotchguard to make them waterproof and to protect them from salt, snow, etc?

I was told when I bought mine that the boots are already waterproof because they are leather, but should still be treated with some sort of waterproofing leather protector anyway. Wipe the salt/snow off right away and air dry them, don't put them near heat (radiator,etc) as this will just dry out the leather.
