I am looking for a backcountry-only ski that is dependable in powder, but more importantly, is responsive and can handle tight turns in the trees and hardpack as well. I am 6'0 and 195 lbs, and currently ski the Black Diamond Zealot 192cm. While it's an amazing ski for deep and steep days, I have a hard time making quick turns in trees and skiing the hardpack with it, and am looking for more of a one-ski-quiver for the Utah backcountry. Does the G3 Reverend or Saint sound like it might work for what I'm looking for, or would the G3 Spitfire be a better fit? Also, any size suggestions? Thanks!

I've skied both the Zealot and the Reverend, they are completely different animals for sure. The Reverends are very responsive to quick short radius turns, but if you are ripping on 192 Zealots right now (which must be quite a handful), you will overpower them on steeper, more open stuff. I also ski in Utah; the 93mm waist of the Revs is JUST enough on deeper days so I'd be worried about the Spitfires not providing enough float. I've also skied the Reverends on hardpack in Vermont (before I saw the light and moved West), and they handle surprisingly well, although they tend to chatter if you really throw your weight into them. If I was forced to have only one ski, it would be the Reverends, and I'd be pretty stoked to have them.If I were you I'd go with the 185, but I've never seen you ski...
