These are made for snowshoeing (among other things) hence the raised lip above the heel that is designed to keep a snowshoe heel strap from sliding down the back of your boot. I can't comment on snowshoe running, though, as I've never tried that.

These wouldn't be bad at all. The only thing I wouldn't really use them for is snowshoe running. Other than that you'll be fine.
