Can it also be used as a carry-on? I was traveling recently and saw someone wearing two large backpacks...one on the back and one in the front to avoid having to check baggage and pay extra fees.

Pack Dimensions: [Small/Medium] 26¾ x 13 x 10½ in. (68 x 33 x 27cm) [Medium/Large] 28¼ x 13 x 10½ in. (72 x 33 x 27cm) Though it does depend on your airline, generally carry on size is limited to 22 x 14 x 9 inches.

Lisa, If yor backpack conforms to the size allowed as a carry on then you can take it I travel with a carryon suitcase and a back pack. The backpack fits under the seat. You have to conform to the requirements of the airlines
