All Gore Jackets have 1 Layer of Gore-Tex membrane. When you see reference to 2-layer or 3-layer, that's how many total layers are laminated together. i.e., a 3 layer jacket (all Arc'teryx Gore is built this way) has a layer of face fabric, a layer of Gore-tex membrane, and a protective inner layer. Some other companies make 2 layer which means it has face and membrane laminated together and a separate layer hanging inside. These tend to be a bit heavier and more bulky.
