i have a question about arcteryx's upper arm pocket that they seem to put on EVERYTHING: is the arm pocket actually useful, or is it just a style thing? because i also notice that they just like putting pockets in weird places, such as on their beanies, and on their scarves... does anybody know?

I've got both jackets, well I actually swapped my arc' for this marmot and used the arm pocket for the same things. I use them for smaller maps, maybe a compass as well or anything else small that I might need to get out a little more often. They're useful for that in my opinion. As for the pockets in beanies, scarves etc. I think that's more of a marketing thing personally. Can't seem to think of anything that those would be useful for.
