How would this boot stack up against a race boot? Son is a high school racer, not too serious, just likes to have fun, but he also hits the park.

unless you are very serious about racing and race at least slalom and GS a race boot is not necessary. if you do not train more then 15 hours a week a 90-110 flex is sufficient. if you aren't strong enough to handle a higher flex boot all it will do is keep you upright, out of an athletic position and therefore late on the gates.
