I just got a pair of these and a friend said that I should "de-tune" the tips and tails. I was wondering if that was really useful to do and how to do so if it is.

It's not that big a deal but it does help, if you have a sharpening stone for edges just take the edge off, or a lot of ski shops won't even charge you for it.
