This would be ideal for what you are looking for! nice light output that lasts and lasts- i would recommend it over the e-lite as the e-lite is an emergency lamp.

I would suggest the Petzl e-lite, a little less expensive and quite a bit lighter. It does take watch batteries (cheap and commonly found in grocery stores) that last for 40 hours of use. Mine has been taken over by my wife for just such a purpose, reading in bed.
