"D" - I too was hoping to pick up a previous model Shift. Your review is fairly recent so I was wondering if your review of the Shift "Element" also applies to the Carrot/Carbon colours of the "Shift" athttp://www.backcountry.com/store/BCC0164/Backcountry-Shift-Softshell-Jacket-Me ns.htmlThis item description claims to have the interior MP3 security pocket and wrist stash but the photos don't support these claims. If the wrist stash is there but less obvious than on the prior Good "Shift" model then this jacket is not the Shift "Element" that you've reviewed and might be an OK jacket if Backcountry comes out with some decent colours in the future. Black, Abyss, Sangria Red, Eclipse/Indigo Blue, some sort of darker (non-crappy) green? Any variations on primary colours are always nice - despite what any fashion school victim might say.

I have this jacket too, and there is no MP3 pocket or internal pocket. Contrary to what "D" says, this jacket looks very stylish, especially in Abyss.I agree that there should be some better colors. A black would be nice ---------------------------------------------------I wouldn't ever consider wearing it on the mountains, b/c of the looseness of the cuffs and the waist. This is more of a casual wearer for a day of shopping and hanging out with people, but not the best for extended periods outside. It makes for a great spring/fall rainy-weather jacket (minus the hood), or a january noontime/afternoon jacket---------------------------------------------------I have the other carbon shift and it fits me great overall (just a little short for being 6' 4"). D needs a sedative. It does have a wind flap and is a comparable design to the gamma sv. The is the "Shift Element." Not the "Shift Softshell." It is not the updated version of the Shift Jacket with the wrist pocket. The new version of the Shift Jacket is the carbon and carrot colored one. It now has an outside chest pocket versus the wrist pocket, but it does have the interior mp3 pocket.***************************************************I'm not sure we're all talking about the same jacket... I have both the Shift Element (from this page) and the standard Shift. The Shift Element that I got in the Earth color (only offered in the Shift Element) does NOT have a wind flap behind the zipper or any internal pockets... but it's still an awesome jacket! The description on this jacket is correct... one chest pocket, two hand pockets. If you're really worried about carrying so much junk around, see if your Boo will let you put your stuff in her purse.
