Is this jacket seriously warm enough for Chicago winters? Like waiting at the bus stop or a 20 minute walk to work when it's 9 degrees out? I want something wind/waterproof but not so bulky. Most of the puffy down coats seem like they'd be warm but then the wind comes and goes right through it. They also aren't waterproof. I also looked at the NF Arctic Parka which seems like it'd be perfect but I just don't like the look of it as much as this coat and it seems like it's pretty bulky. Would this do the job? Maybe if I layered it with a zip-up fleece?

Nothing is worse than the chill waiting for the bus! By all accounts I say NO, this is not the jacket for Chicago winters, not on its own. Layer with it (zip-up fleece, maybe more) or go for the puff down coat and stay warm.
