I was looking at the these and the Washed-Duck version. What exactly is the difference. Which one do you all recomend?

The main difference is that these pants have two layers of canvas on the front. This "double-front" covers from mid-thigh to mid-shin across the entire front 1/2 of the pants. If you look at the full-size "front" picture, you can clearly see it.
