Hi. I'm looking for a day pack comparable to the North Face Recon, but with narrower shoulder straps (the thick straps dig into my neck). A key feature I'm looking for is an external mesh pocket so I can store a few items in view. Thanks!

Take a look at the NF Borealis II day pack. No external mesh pocket but it does have very useful external webbing that will hold clothing or other gear. My girlfriend (5' 3") and I have both hiked with it and really like it. She has it now and I miss it. G. Love
