I wonder if the base can be unscrewed from the burner? The Optimus website isn't very clear on this. Does any have one of these or know someone who does?

The burner stem will detach from the base for extensive maintenance but with some effort. In other words this action should, most likely, never become necessary & should never be performed in the field.
