no, these are not waterproof. the waterproof version can be found here:http://www.backcountry.com/store/SAL1397/Salomon-XA-Pro-3D-Ultra-GTX-Trail-Running-Shoe-Womens.htmlthey will work fine for walking, but are overkill for that sort of thing. if you're going to be spending much time on the road i would suggest something with reflectors.
