if you're completely sold on getting patagonia layers for running i'd suggest the r1 patagonia pants. excellent wicking capabilities and i've personally ran in them before..but they'll look more like running tights ad they are stretchy enough for vigorous running. they also don't have the crotch opening like these.

they stretch enough but like arkansasnomad said, they're meant to be a layering piece.

You can wear these running, but these are not intended to be running tights. They're not going to block much wind at all. They are great a wicking away moisture, but are designed to be layered beneath other...........layers.
