I have the Denali fleece and I am looking for a shell. I am curious which fit is longer and better for Chicago weather. The Alliance or the Various Guide. I am 5'11 so I am looking for a fit that hits at least at the hips. Thank you

This would be an ok jacket, but it's by no means "hardcore," which would definitely describe Chi-Town's winters. You might want to look more into gore-tex shells: Mountain Light Parka, Statosphere, or the Heathen jacket. You're going to dish out more, but it will be well worth it with weatherability & breathability (and the Mountain Light Parka is 29" instead of 26" (all of the others including this one.)
